Tommy Bice is Education Director for the Mike and Gillian Goodrich Foundation here in Birmingham. Prior to joining the Goodrich Foundation in 2016, Tommy served as the Alabama State Superintendent of Education culminating a 39 year career in public education that included serving as a special education teacher at the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind, Director of Allan Cott School, Alternative School Director, Career and Technical School Director, High School Principal, Superintendent of the Alexander City School System, Deputy State Superintendent for Instruction, and adjunct professor of Educational Leadership at Auburn University. He is actively involved in multiple civic and professional organizations looks to become actively involved in his new home of Birmingham. He holds a B.S. and Ed.D. from Auburn University and an M.A. from UAB
Carol Butler is Executive Director of the Mike & Gillian Goodrich Foundation Prior to joining the Goodrich Foundation in 2011, Carol served as President of the Central Alabama Community Foundation for twenty years. A native of Montgomery, Carol is a graduate of both Leadership Montgomery and Leadership Alabama. She was a founding member of the Montgomery Education Foundation, Bridge Builders Alabama and BONDS – Building Our Neighborhoods for Development and Success. Carol currently serves on the board of Huntingdon College, Teach for America Alabama, Red Mountain Theatre Company and Historic Bethel Baptist Church. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama (BA) and the University of Denver (MBA).
Gillian joined the foundation as the Grants Coordinator in 2016 following nine years with a local software company. Her focus at the foundation is facilitating relationships with grantees and making the grant process as smooth as possible for everyone involved. Gillian is originally from Houston, TX and holds a BA in Theatre from Sewanee: The University of the South.
