Venture for America

A grant of $90,000 over 3 years to pilot a national program with a mission to revitalize emerging American cities and communities through entrepreneurship. Venture for America recruits and currently supports a diverse set of 15 top-tier college graduates to partner with early-mid level startups in Birmingham for two years. Venture for America continues to provide a pipeline of exceptional talent to our community.

Ronald McDonald House Central Alabama

Ronald McDonald House Central Alabama

A grant of $75,000 over 3 years to support the construction of a 28,543-square-foot wing addition to Ronald McDonald House of Central Alabama’s current facility. The addition will add five apartments and 28 guest suites to the House’s existing 40 suites. In 2015, The Ronald McDonald House average length of stay grew to 19 days and provided a home away from home for 705 families from across Alabama, 14 other states and 3 countries.

Birmingham Zoo

Birmingham Zoo

The Zoo is the largest tourist attraction in our state. The grant of $250,000 over five years will support the design and construction of a new half-acre Entry Plaza, a one-acre Orientation Plaza, and a 3,000 square-foot gift shop and contemporary educational/flexible meeting space. In addition, visuals will engage and connect guests to the Zoo’s mission, “Inspiring Passion for the Natural World.”

Glenwood, Inc.

A grant of $250,000 over five years to support the construction of an Education and Early Intervention Center, including an inclusive preschool designed specifically for children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The Center will also offer early intervention, instruction, diagnostic and clinical service to more children and families.
